My name is Erick Gama and I am doing the hunger strike because I am a firm supporter of the DREAM Act. Not only is this a necessity for the country but also to all those minors that have lived in this country for most of their lives, calling this country their home. It is a solution to the immigration problem. So that immigrants can rightfully contribute to this country. I decided to participate in the hunger strike to show that we are still aiming to call attention to this important event.

I believe in Human Rights.

I believe that everyone should be entitled to further his or her education regardless of legal status.

I believe America needs the bright ‘undocumented’ students to sustain this country and its economy.

I support the DREAM Act because I support the thousands of students willing to go to college and or serve this country, a country that is not theirs.

I support the DREAM Act because I have access to an education and I believe that EVERYONE should be permitted to fulfill his or her DREAMs:

  • To walk across that stage and feel proud of whom they are.
  • To obtain a degree and be a great asset to the United States by contributing to its society.

I support the DREAM Act because it will open many doors for young aspiring professionals and will have a better impact for this country, transforming ‘America the beautiful’ to ‘America, the land of REAL opportunities and a gorgeous country’.

I stand strong for what I believe, and I believe it’s time.

It’s time to open our eyes and decide what is BEST for this country, not what is best for us.

It is NOT for OUR future, but the future of the world.

My name is Uriel Omar Gama and I SUPPORT THE DREAM ACT.

As i am today -a small body bundled up my comfy blanket feeling, subtly but surely, my growling stomach, hunched over my laptop screen typing a paper about what and who a hero is to me in our modern day. I don’t mean to compare myself with one, just thinking of the heroes in my life, those of antiquity, and those genius in so many realms society that have changed the course of humanity.
I’m not sure if this small action of mine can change the minds and hearts of those elected to represent our voices (as faint as they may seem), but i sure hope it has an effect on them.
I understand there are so many things in this country that need to be changed and improved but i think our struggle deserves attention and our plea should be answered.
I truly desire the passage of the DREAM ACT… I trust it’s not a hopeless hope.
Many times, it feels as if my hands were tied up and that my fate is out of my control no matter how hard i try to improve the random disparities in my life.
The feel of my heart palpitating inside me renews my spirit, and I thank the circumstances and people that have brought me to where I am today. I fast tonight in their honor and memory; because I am theirs and without them I’m nothing. I fast in solidarity with those that have struggled my struggle for a long time now and in the hope that others will not have to endure it.
