Program Overview

The Campecine Youth Academy is a 8-week applied summer research program that will train and employ 30 youth to
conduct research and enact social change in their community.

The program runs from June 21st until July 30th from Monday-Friday, 1pm-5pm at IUPUI School of Informatics

Eligibility
Latina/o youth who:

  • Live in Marion County, Indiana;
  • Are between the ages of 14 and 21;
  • Have an interest in using new digital media technology (video, graphics, web-based & audio production); and
  • Have an interest in community building and social change.
  • Interested in financial management, college preparation, and personal development

Benefits
Youth will:

  • develop relevant problem solving and critical thinking skills;
  • be equipped with social science research and new media skills;
  • develop leadership and public speaking skills;
  • be exposed to various careers and gain employability skills;
  • be encouraged to graduate from high school and attain a post-secondary education;
  • enhance their sense of civic responsibility through participatory action research; and
  • develop useful social networks and collective consciousness.
